Vegan Cuisine for Revolutionizing Health
Growing up with a Jamaican Father and Caribbean Grandmothers on both sides exposed me to their tantalizing flavors and recipes as a child. I grew up with a growing curiosity and interest in culinary arts. That’s just it! It was always revered as an Art to me, a form of creative expression. A love language. I loved cooking for my family. Innately, I was skilled over time; I allowed my ancestors to guide my hands and followed closely the recipes of my Caribbean father and grandmothers. I always felt safe and confident in the kitchen.
Four years ago, I made the choice to embrace being Vegan. While I loved classic traditional Caribbean dishes, I grew up on jerk wings and curry goat. I couldn’t ignore the growing feeling that I could serve my body and my community better by introducing veganism to my lifestyle in hopes of inspiring others.
Adapting a vegan lifestyle means being compassionate to all life forms. I have made the choice to eliminate animal products from my life and diet. Intentionally reducing my carbon footprint, saving trees, and showing compassion through loving animals are important core values of mine.
I believe it’s imperative to raise awareness about the impact diet has on health and how and why heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and high cholesterol are so prevalent in the Black community. People of color suffer and die from chronic diseases at a disproportionately higher rate than any other race or community. A root cause of this was the lack of availability of fresh fruits and vegetables, financial restrictions, and simply not knowing what’s best for our bodies to thrive. Celestial Munchies' mission is to change the narrative. By reimagining food, we serve to alter the trajectory of these deadly diseases by increasing availability and awareness. Health is indeed wealth.
Consuming life through plants raises your vibration, makings your body a clear vessel for manifestation. Celestial Munchies focuses on choosing healthier food options that reduce inflammation, minimize the risk of disease, & diabetes prevalent in communities of color. Plant-based options are increasing in popularity and availability. Plant Based food options help eliminate mucus-causing diseases in the body.
